ow rare in the US to get true French cooking. In a small new building next to the "Knights of Columbus Lodge" is this pale yellow walled bistro with an enclosed wine cellar. The short Le menu lets the staff concentrate on their dishes and keeps the inventory fresh. Everything is perfect from appetizer to dessert. Well almost perfect - the only complaint are the tasteless tomatoes, spoiling otherwise fine dishes. Consider the flavor and texture. French onion soup is true. Great duck in blueberry sauce. The sauces are true European sauces - not fancy trendy reductions. Fair cheese plate. The biggest treat will be the extensive wine cellar of up and coming French vineyards at good prices. See their associated enterprise www.frenchwineclub.com. The service is great if you have the son waiting on you, but the rest of the staff needs to stick to the service and cut the gab.
Lunch is almost romantic with a nice tropical iced tea, interesting French music plays in the background. You notice the soft brewer chairs and the large French forks. The ham sandwich and the mushroom omelet are more American the French. The lunch is a great setting to be with someone, while dinner is where the French culinary skill shines. |
